Our coaching staff is comprised of a talented blend of player development, video  analysis, and athletic performance personnel. Over 30 years of experience with college and university coaches ,we actually understand what it takes for our student-athletes.

Sean Tyson - HEAD COACH, DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS
Sean brings over 20 years of experience as a top rated player development coach in all of Canada Stemming from his days as a professional basketball coach to working with players in the Saskatchewan provincial program. He started his career as an assistant player development coach for the Grand Rapids Hoops(CBA) team in 2002 then move to the Great Lakes Storm as a video coordinator and assistant coach for 2 seasons. In 2005 he became the interim head coach in that same franchise.  In 2015 He led the Saskatchewan U16 Boys team to a Bronze medal finish at the Western Canada Summer Games. Sean was on the coaching staff for the Team Canada U17 and U18 Assessment Camp. He has worked with several  former NBA players 2 of which are currently playing in the 2015 World Championship Golden State Warriors organization. Sean has also seen the development of several local standout players dating as far back as 2000. In 2019 Tyson was on the selection committee for the prestigious Biosteel All Canadian Basketball game. He was a member of the famed Baltimore Dunbar Poets who won the National Championship in 1986 and received a full scholarship to Clemson University where he won a Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. Sean has a BSc degree in Parks Recreation and Tourism Management.  

Ian Kadlec - ANALYTICS
Kadlec will look after all video production and editing associated with SBA. He has done an excellent job learning the ropes of the business of analytical basketball through systems such as HUDL, Krossover and Fast Scout. Ian joins the SBA staff after serving as a Head Coach for Greenwave United U17 team, were he enjoy lots of success, including a highlight of winning the Saskatoon SLAM Tournament. Ian spent some time working at Western and National Canada Basketball ID Camps, and also traveled to China representing Canada as an assistant coach against teams such as USA, China, Lithuania.  He was a part of the provincial basketball U16 Boys staff which won a Bronze Medal at the Western Canada games in 2015 and as an assistant and a video scout for the U17 team in 2016. He is well versed in video and scout software which helped win the Provincial title at Davidson High school under the leadership of Kim Rettger. Ian began his basketball career as a standout player while at his alma mater Davidson and went on to become the first MVP player at Olds College where he received his degree in Agriculture.

Tanner Kozun- ASSISTANT COACH/

Tanner is in his 6th season as a coach with Greenwave United. He has been with the club since it’s inception. In his first season he coached the Under 13 Boys team following up the next year with the U15 Boys where his teams won 90% of the games they played. He continued onto the U17 Team where he sustained another successful season winning 85% of his games. He was also an assistant a with SBA that team reached the top 25 teams in Canada 2018. Tanner is an all around sports enthusiast He is specific in physical and nutritional development for all range of people. Kozun will be the lead contact for Greenwave United in the Southeast . He graduated from the University of Regina college of Education.

Marek Kopiowski - ASSISTANT COACH
Marek Kopiowski was born in Wroclaw, Poland. He played as a Point Guard at all youth levels in Poland.  Marek competed in Youth Euroleague EYBL and the U-18 Polish League. While playing with Prokom Trefl he won the U-18 Championship of Poland and later signed pro contract with 17-time champion of Poland - WKS Slask Wroclaw (2League). During his playing career, Marek was also coaching the U-16 team for Gimbasket Sycow and coached kids at three different elementary schools in Wroclaw. That same year he attended the Academy of Physical Education in Wroclaw where he studied Physical Education. In 2013, After moving to Canada he played for the Algonquin Thunder varsity team. Marek coached at  Ontario CP Program, and worked at Team Canada U-17 and U-18 Assessment Camp. 


Scott Hawley - ASSISTANT COACH
Scott has been a presence in the Saskatoon basketball community for almost three decades. Following a stellar playing career highlighted by a provincial championship, a BRIT championship, and multiple successful summer tournament runs across the western United States, Scott has continued to be involved in basketball in Saskatoon as a coach. A high school teacher in the city, he has coached teams at both the junior and senior levels for the past 15 years. In addition, Scott is actively involved in youth basketball, coaching in the Dunkeroos, Spud, and Mini divisions within the SMBA over the past several seasons, and has recently been added to the SMBA board of directors. Scott will work to develop the basketball knowledge and fundamental foundation of the under 11 team. 

Brett Solberg - ASSISTANT COACH
Brett joins SBA as an assistant coach. He is currently a coach for the Greenwave United where he is enjoyed a success campaign in previous season. Brett is a former high school  standout player who attended Aden Bowman Collegiate and continued his career at Lakeland college. In the

Ian Macangus- Ian began his career as a community coach at the SMBA level he has a wealth of knowledge that he brings from our minor league association. Ian has been a coach in the SMBA for the last seven years. He also been one of our all time winning his coaches appearing 7 championship games and winning three of them.

Mark McDonald - U13  ASSISTANT COACH
Mark has recently relocated back to Saskatoon after serving with the Canadian Air Force for the previous nine years. While serving, he won a National Basketball Championship with the Trenton Flyers in 2017. He also participated with the CISM National program from 2016-2017. Mark is excited to be part of the Greenwave program, and hopes his experience can help these young players in their skill development

Corrine Cassavant- Corrine comes with a set of skills that makes her one of, if not the most important member in our club. She is highly organized and extremely detailed oriented. Corrine is the logistical coordinator for all our travel accommodations and a ton of others that keep the club moving.
